Why does my cat watch me pee?

My 6 year old cat has always been a great cat. The last two years he has started to watch me as I pee. He watches me the whole time. My cat has never been like this. He has always been the perfect cat. I was wondering why does my cat watch me pee? Also, I’m not sure if he is doing it on purpose.

Peeing is something normal cats do. As long as the peeing doesn't happen in a place that is bad for them or cause them to be sick, cats are fine with it. As long as the peeing doesn't stop, the cat is fine. A lot of cats urinate outside the litter box when they don't have an accident inside the box.

I would keep an eye on it but as long as it isn't in a bad area, it probably won't be a problem.

Yes. It's natural for cats to urinate outside of their litter boxes, it's a form of territorial marking. Some cats like to be watched while they do it.

Your cat is using his instinctual body language to mark his territory so it doesn't have to be for any reason. You shouldn't have any problems with him urinating. There's nothing wrong with this. It's normal behavior.

In fact, most people don't even notice if a cat is peeing outside the litter box, because they don't always get to see it from the box.

As long as your cat is okay with it, I would suggest continuing with this behavior.
